Speedy Spring

Did you miss Spring? That late cold spell kept plants underground. Add some rain and finally a warm day and everything was blooming at once. The Trout lily's are often the first flower blooming at Picnic Point in Madison. I have seen them as early as mid-February (though not often). This year they were not blooming until April 27th. Joining the Trout lily was Virginia Waterleaf, Bloodroot, Virginia Bluebell and Dutchman's -breeches.
