Solomon's Seal is a member of the Lily family. It is sometimes found in open glades but more often I see it in shadier woods.
There are several types of Solomon's Seal native to Wisconsin. Solomon's Seal (Polygonatum multiflorum) has flowers running along the leaf axils and has blue berries. False Solomon's Seal (Smilacina racemosa), which is locally referred to as Terminal Solomon's Seal, has a cluster of creamy-white flowers at the tip of the leaf and red berries. There is also Starry False Solomon's Seal which is similar to the Terminal variety.

These roots from the Solomon's Seal in my yard will be made into an oil which is useful for problems relating to joints, ligaments and bruises.
